2-week countdown

as of saturday i am counting down the two-weeks to departure. exciting and scary. on the weekend we had a going away gathering and a gaggle of small children blessed my bus with lots of rambunctious yelling. a good send-off. i started packing the bus yesterday, this is exciting too. the puzzling in of everything. the not-knowing if it’s going to fit at all; or just perfectly or with room to spare. jeremy may drive with me as far as calgary because trucks are cheap out there right now and he is thinking of buying one. it would be nice then if we could actually sleep in the bus, not in a tent outside. the last while i’ve had the bus at our (jere’s) house so it is way easier to work on it whenever i feel like it. i installed the electrical last week, and it is AMAZING to flick a switch and turn on a light running off of a battery. you know i just get such a kick out of that. so far only two lights. i still have 12v wires sticking out of the walls that aren’t attached to anything, just because i am not sure what i want to put there yet. the fridge is hooked up. the inverter works great, and the charge controller also seems to work well. check out my 110 plugs, i did such a good job on them;) i built a box shelf for the front dash to hold plants while driving. i don’t quite like the way it looks on the dash, so i might take it out when i get there, but it will be useful for now. i also got to build the shelf i wanted over the counter, i think it will be perfect for when i stop. aesthetically it is not completely to my liking. i would’ve liked a lot more tree limbs/driftwood, but i got rid of almost all my nice wood when moving, so i had little to work with. i may need to spruce it up later. the curtains are done, made out of wool blankets. the blue ones remind me of the ocean. the back curtains are magnetized and the side ones are on clothesline. i got a roof rack on kijiji which is PERFECT (i can’t remember if i’ve mentioned this already) and we installed it between the roof vents. it fits almost perfect, one vent can only open on one side. i tried loading it on the ground first to see what i could fit up there. it will hold all my bikes which is awesome, and a couple of rain barrels too.
